MANILA – The mother of another overseas Filipino worker on death row in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia appealed to the government for help.
Editha Dacanay is calling on government to help her daughter Rose Dacanay-Policarpio.
Dacanay also criticized the Department of Foreign Affairs for its slow action on her daughter’s case and for not updating her on the true status despite repeated visits to the agency.
She also complained of being given the run-around when she tried to bring up the matter before the office of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Policarpio left the Philippines on May 31, 2013. Fifteen days later, in June, she was implicated in the murder of her employer.
Policarpio claimed that she fled the scene of the crime because the perpetrators attempted to rape her, but when she went to the police to report the incident, she was arrested and jailed instead.
She insisted that someone from the Philippine Embassy forced her to admit to the crime.
