Migrante Netherlands (Filipijnse arbeidersbeweging) is an organization of Filipino migrant workers and families based in the Netherlands. We stand against all forms of exploitation, discrimination and oppression.
As a member of Migrante International and Migrante Europe, we are part of a global movement of overseas Filipinos who fight for the rights and welfare of migrant workers while building solidarity for the struggle of the Filipino people for genuine land reform and national industrialization.
VISION
We dream of a society where families are not broken up by urgent need for survival. We dream and will actively work for a homeland where there is opportunity for everyone to live a decent & humane life.
MISSION
To fight for the democratic rights and well-being of Filipino migrant workers and to promote the unity of migrant families.
To develop programs, campaigns and services to address the needs of migrants, especially the undocumented and asylum seekers.
To collaborate with migrant community organizations and institutions in the Netherlands as well as pro-migrant political parties and formations.
To launch trainings, studies on Filipino society and other useful studies and activities to develop the knowledge, skills and perspectives of Filipino migrant workers to raise their patriotic and humanitarian awareness and commitment.
To launch projects and conduct fundraising activities to help meet the needs of members and their families, and compatriots in the Philippines who are in need of urgent assistance, such as responding to disasters such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes, forced displacement, etc.
PROGRAMS
CAMPAIGN AND LOBBYING
We call for the following: Stop Human Trafficking and Labor Exploitation, End Violence Against Women and Children, Regularize Undocumented Workers, Equal Justice and Equal Pay for Seafarers, Stop Exploiting Au Pairs, Stop Impunity of Diplomats to Abuse Workers, and Support the Struggle for Human Rights and Social Justice in the Philippines
EDUCATION
We conduct seminars, workshops, trainings, info-sessions and film screenings on themes about the Philippine Labor Export Policy, Dutch laws on labor, migration and family reunion; domestic violence, human trafficking and smuggling, access to medical and social services for undocumented migrants and pressing concerns in the Philippines and the world.
SAGIP MIGRANTE (SAVING MIGRANTS’ LIVES)
We provide assistance and facilitate social support for Filipino migrant workers and families in need: food aid, financial/material aid; legal subsidy for cases on human trafficking/modern slavery/smuggling, labor exploitation, fraud and scam, domestic violence, divorce/separation/unification; and Dutch/European neglect of partner and children based anywhere in the world.
CELEBRATING FILIPINO ROOTS AND CULTURE
We organize open salo-salo (eating together), karaoke sessions, storytelling and cultural workshops for the Filipino community and international network.
FUNDRAISING
To support our programs for the Filipino community in the Netherlands and to gather support for the Filipino people especially impacted by typhoon, earthquake, fire and human rights violations.
INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY
We are a member of the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) that defends and promotes the rights and well-being of all victims of forced migration through campaigns, education and various initiatives. We are also a member of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle that strives to realize the unity, cooperation and coordination of anti-imperialist and democratic struggles throughout the world.
